pedestrian prologue
i've been meaning to update for a while now, just for the sake of keeping up my ability to write using reasonable sentance structure. since i last left my cliffhung audience, i've had a very awesome trip to buzzard's bay on cape cod with a ragtag bunch of young ragamuffins that resulted in my back being burned not unlike a large holstein heffer, working like a dog, exercising intensely until i tweaked something in my back, asked by my elderly grandmother who can barely speak a word of english whether or not i had found a girlfriend, amongst other trials and tribulations.
this weekend proved itself quite worthy of yours truly and really shored up my love of the city of boston. on friday, i had rehearsal (yes! paid for just making more of an ass of myself that i do at work) and then worked the evening shift. after talking to larry, my director, i decided that i need to invest in a real headshot as opposed to the one i strung together for myself. it wouldn't be a bad investment. now it's simply a matter of comparing prices and services offered by the countless photographers in the area in order to capture my essence on film. fortunately the bonus of working 8 straight days in a row is the paycheck (although i hardly consider this really work, even though there are times i don't wanna be there) thereby giving me the funds to finance such an artistic and career orientated endeavor. still if there are any investors out there, i can be sponsered/bought until further notice. i'm cheap.
but the continue on the thread of fri, smasher, allison, and kev came to see my show, and suz and her friend steph made the valiant effort to see the show which was very appreciated. it's always such a pleasure and means more to me than people could know that anyone would come to see me perform children's theatre. as i'm looking at in the crowd and i see any familiar faces, i put even more into my performance just so they can have a good time for coming all the way down to the museum. it's like a big boost of caffeine seeing someone i know in the audience. following the show, kev and i went to moogy's which was awesome. great food, and awesome atmosphere. i felt like i was stoned just sitting in there. i was able to treat kev to beer which was a nice role reversal. after moogy's it was to smasher's for a party. the party was great. haven't been to a party in a while, and it was nice to see so many people that i hadn't seen in a while and just to be able to socialize while drinking. a lot of people i hadn't seen in months so it was awesome to be there, in spite of the heat in the apartment and the closed windows to cut down on noise.
sat found myself back at work. jarret came down to see the show which was nice. after the show, i met up w/ jarret at the frog pond, and we walked to the free last dispatch concert at the hatchshell. my lord, it was packed. at least 40,000 people were there, and the place was packed to the brim despite the fact that it was an outdoor venue. i just wasn't feeling the vibe of the place. far too many people, i was far too away from the stage, and couldn't hear too much. although i enjoy their music, not enough to fight to hear their music. i headed to the common after like 30 minutes, found a nice place under a willow tree next to the duck pond, and took an awesome nap. all the while i was trying to get in contact with anyone just to talk to them about anything. i was kind of craving human contact to no avail. i just felt really alone, but i managed to get a hold of my old buddy eli, who was in town, and met him at sissy k's down near fanieul hall, shared a drink, then shipped off to grab dinner in quincy market, a delicious chowda bread bowl. i decided to start walking, and when i passed by city hall there was a free concert. i think it was the gin blossoms. whoever it was, they had a good vibe, and i sat and listened to a while. after listening for a while, i decided to get going home, but rather than take the T, i walked from city hall to the outskirts of BU, which i imagine was at least 3 or 4 miles of walking, that took me about 90 minutes or so to walk. not really sure. it was pretty far though. all the while i was just able to collect my recent thoughts, reflect, and push onward. it was good to have some good me time.
on sun, i had the pleasure of working w/ therese at work who i'd never worked w/ before. she was an amazing actress to work w/, and had so much energy. it helped the day go by even faster. we did some great show to some houses packed to the brim, and had some great response from the audience, always a big plus. in between the 3rd and 4th (last) show of the day, walking around the museum, i ran into heather. she had come like she said she would which was awesome. it was so great to see her. it's always such a pleasure to have her company. i really dig her and having her there added to an already great day. she stayed and watched the 4th show, which she really enjoyed, and stuck around another 15 minutes for me to clean up before leaving.
afterwards, we started walking (a continual trend u see for me) and headed to downtown crossing and the common. it was nice to be able to just guide our walk b/c i've grown very somewhat knowledgeable of the area in my trevails. we went to the gardens and went to see the "make way for ducklings" statues. then we headed to uno's where i bought her a drink. although somewhat miffed that the ice crushed was out of commission, we both had tropical concotions that really hit the spot. then it was to the common for shakespeare, where greg, addie, michelle, a-ron, and addie's friend andy would meet us. it was just an awesome day. got to spend it w/ someone i adore, and the conversation the whole time was great. more reason to walk i suppose.
only one month left till school, when i think a lot of questions about my future will be answered. i'm a little wary about what's the happen next, but it should at the least be a very interesting next couple of months.
